 Ah! Guest House: Paternoster

Ah! ha Ah! Ha, I like it...  'You see! You must always be nice to children, for the simple reason that they grow up, and then they're nice to you (especially useful when you're getting on). Our nephew and niece invited us to celebrate their 23rd (I think) wedding anniversary with them in Paternoster at the most beautiful, AH! some Guesthouse AH! First impressions are lasting, and my first glimpse of the establishment, with its tangerine shutters, window sills, and door frames, spoke volumes. In Paternoster, you do white with blue trim. I loved the art, the furnishings, the acid-washed kitchen cupboards, the long table in the dining room, just spoke to my heart! Our room was the new extension, I think it's the 'orange room,' and I loved it. The attention to detail is evident throughout the house, from the cozy common areas to the beautifully curated decor, making it a truly memorable stay.

I can't imagine a guest not raving about the food; breakfasts are a three-course feast, so delicious that they make one's day. Rather than eating out on Saturday evening, we joined our fellow guests and enjoyed the now-famous "long table" dinner party. A 5-star meal was served by our fabulous hosts, Arnold (chef extraordinaire) and Annalize, his gorgeous wife. Our eclectic fellow diners enthralled us, and I'm sure no other eatery would've served a more perfect anniversary dinner.

Sadly, we had to pack up on Sunday evening, but left with fond memories, renewed friendships, and a couple of extra kilos, no! I didn't nick the fabulous paintings, the luxurious mattress cover, or the Mexican Chimera on the deck; neither did I borrow a DVD or a book, and I promise I left the vintage cutlery on the table. Eish! The weight is on my waistline! If you're planning a visit, I recommend booking well in advance, especially during peak season in September, to secure your spot at this charming guesthouse. We'll be back, I promise, and I have special friends whom I'd like to bring along. AH! men. Stayed September 2012, travelled as a couple
