Baia V&A Waterfront

 Baia V&A Waterfront

Our first impressions are lasting: Cape Town is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and should be on everyone's bucket list. We are regular visitors to the Waterfront, and once again it impressed us. Baia is perfectly situated on the quayside with views to dazzle any diner, and the spectacular view of Table Mountain should be a deal breaker in anyone's books.

This well-appointed, large restaurant is a must if you're in Cape Town and you love seafood. The large selection of delectable crustaceans and fish seduced us. Our starters included oysters, King crabs, and calamari, all lip-smackingly gorgeous. Main courses were beautiful prawn, crayfish, and langoustine platters; someone had the perfectly seared Salmon dish, and I had a succulent, well-prepared scallop dish. We loved every morsel of these well-presented, excellently prepared dishes. No meal is complete without dessert, and we tucked into superb Lindt fondants, crème brûlée, and crème caramel. Purrfect.

The tablecloth was a testimony of our enjoyment of the meal, but it didn't look good! We loved it! We were very surprised by the number of guests, which only goes to show that if you've got good food, you'll have bums on seats. Booking is essential, I'd love to see the crowds in summer! Service was excellent, our waiter's recommendations were spot on. The comprehensive wine list, featuring both local and international wines and bubbles, complemented our dishes perfectly. Be warned, though, this is not a cheap experience, and the bill might leave a lasting impression, too.

Whenever I see this blog, I think of my darling friend, Linda, living in the UK now, and how I miss her positivity, charm, and her very special friendship.  You're as special as Baia is, the one complements the other for me!
