Fernkloof Nature Reserve: Hermanus

A monkey's wedding must be a good omen for a bride and groom, I think. We attended a beautiful, romantic wedding in Fernkloof a week ago. Besides the gorgeous bridal couple, Fernkloof stole the show, as it always does.
There were baboons on the lawns; they came out of hiding to make our day so special. It rained, the first for a very long time; we've been blessed with a very special summer, and I think the rain was the cherry on the wedding cake. Made us all come closer, chat, and share memories of other brides who were late.
I think every visitor to Hermanus should go for a walk or a hike in Fernkloof; to miss it would be really sad. Pack your hiking boots or walking shoes at least; make the effort, you'll not be disappointed. I've been many times over the years, and every visit has been a special one. I think you could even get a guide for a day who'll look after you.

Enjoy the incredible plant Kingdom of the Western Cape, the vistas, the waterfalls, and the fresh air. A very good option would be Billy Robertson of Walker Bay Tours, a guide who knows the area very well, having grown up there. Billy has an excellent knowledge of the Fynbos and birds. He's a great raconteur who tells of the area and its people beautifully. Billy does various walks and can recommend other places of interest and things to do. His contact number is +27829263612. To walk a place means it's indelible.
