The Harbour Rock Hermanus

Rock on! With the best view in town. October is a windy month in the Western Cape, and finding a good spot to have a meal can be tricky.   We were rewarded with a fabulous view overlooking the harbour in Hermanus at The Rock, and not a breath of wind either! The view of the bay was gorgeous. We watched the whale boats coming and going, taking tourists out to see the remaining whales and calves in Walker Bay. We haven't dined at the Rock for several months (for no apparent reason), and we were pleasantly surprised to see renovations and extensions had been done.

Dining out on the balcony will be a hit during the summer holidays, and I'm sure we'll have to make bookings well in advance. A new addition is the Sushi bar, and the blackboard menu has been changed (for the better). Our selections came from the blackboard; we shared delicious Chicken Satays and a fresh salad for starters, followed by an excellent crispy duck and noodle dish. Our waiter was very attentive, made excellent recommendations, and the pauses between courses were spot on. The wine list is comprehensive, from Moet to local plonk, all in all an excellent meal with a view. We'll be back.
