Oskar's Delikatessen: Hermanus

It's a coffee shop for Pete's sake!  Books are my favourite thing in the world, and what could be nicer than a book shop next to a coffee shop? So, I'll pop into the bookshop, do my nosing around, and then happily go and settle in at Oskars. Here you can catch your breath, have cake, light meals, coffees, teas, and delicious fresh fruit juices. They've perfected the art of combining fresh ingredients in interesting ways! The red velvet cake is a winner.

Update: Oskars has moved to the other side of the Village to Village Square. The restaurant is larger now, still quite quirky and busy, and the fare is still good.  I love the books and bric-a-brac, and the staff is friendly and helpful. If I may have my 10 cents' worth, I'd say the old shop had more character, but progress is a good thing, I suppose

We've been a few times and even went for the Sunday buffet lunch. I'm not a fan of a Buffet, but I had to give them the benefit of the doubt. We did well with the oxtail, like Mama's, fell off the bone, and the glass of house was good.  The second one we had to pay for, of course, but I think we paid for the first one then.   Great for pensioners, cozy, friendly, busy, and a good natter can be had.  Afterward, we all went home for a snooze.
