Inverroche Classic Gin

Most people remember their grandmothers because they smelled of violets or lavender. When I think of my Glam ‘ma, I imagine gin and cigarette smoke, two of my favourite things! Femme fatale.
She was glamorous, worldly, beautiful, graceful, and well-travelled. She spoke the Queen’s English and perfect French, and she had a wicked sense of humour. There were a few things she taught me: 1. Play bridge 2. Read 3—travel 4. You can never be too thin or too rich. 5. Love sundowners and have supper at midnight. I can’t get the thin part right, and I’ll never be rich.
Whenever I open a bottle of gin, I inhale deeply as I love the smell of a good gin.
Hearing about Inverroche Classic Gin piqued my curiosity, but what truly sets it apart from other artisanal gins is its use of wild Cape fynbos botanicals and indigenous herbs, which give it a distinctive, fresh aroma that I haven't experienced elsewhere. Last weekend, we had a reunion weekend with Les Girls, who French-kissed me in France. One of the girls brought in Inverroche Classic Gin.
My Glam ’ma would’ve loved it; I can see her sitting in her Morris chair, wearing dark glasses, a wide-brimmed hat, a floral chiffon dress, and high heels, sipping Inverroche Classic Gin from her beautiful lead crystal goblet. Ice tinkling and her cigarette smoke curling in the evening breeze evoke a warm sense of nostalgia and cultural richness.
What really impressed For those interested in trying it, I recommend serving it over ice with a splash of lime or a twist of citrus to bring out its botanical flavours. me was that she could even tell the time without a watch! She’d call out, “Isn’t it 12 o’clock? Time for my drink!” and at 18h00 do the same again.
We drink our Gin with Indian Tonic and Bitters. She loved lime juice and water. If you can lay your hands on a bottle, do so. Sip sunshine and serenity.
Beautifully packaged in a navy-blue box with silver trimmings, this tipple exudes timeless elegance and invites the reader to experience a truly classic spirit that feels both special and refined.

I stopped drinking alcohol a decade or more ago. Do I feel better for it? I don’t know. What I can say now is that a G&T will always remind me of dust, Africa, a giraffe, a palm tree, and an Adirondack chair. Oh, and mosquitoes. That’s why we partake of the nectar.
